Know what you're putting in your body...

When it comes to living a healthy and natural lifestyle, what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and since it is porous, it absorbs whatever you put on it.

Comfrey:

Apart from helping treat superficial wounds, comfrey oil has also been used for fractured bones or torn ligaments in areas of the body where it is not possible to place a cast, such as a rib. It can be applied directly onto your skin or in a poultice, potentially promoting faster healing. It is also said to help reconstruct torn muscles that might have been injured.

Lavender:

Lavender oil assists in minimizing pain and inflammation around affected tissues, as well as increasing circulation and oxygenation to the joints. This oil can be a fantastic, natural and side effect free means of treating symptoms

Calendula:

Skin dryness or chapping — Calendula oil is a great moisturizer for dry skin and for severely chapped or split skin. It helps soothe the area and reduce the pain.

Inflammation — It works well on sprained muscles or bruises; its anti-inflammatory action helps lessen swelling from injury. Calendula oil also helps treat spider veins, varicose veins, leg ulcers and chilblains.

Minor cuts and wounds — The antiseptic and antimicrobial action of the oil help speed up healing of wounds and minor cuts, and also help relieve insect bites, acne and bed sores.

Skin issues — Eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and other skin problems can be soothed using calendula oil, applied topically. Calendula oil's antifungal action is also great for helping treat athlete's foot, ringworm and jock itch.

Plantain:

Plantain has been used for insect and snake bites, and as a remedy for rashes and cuts. Its natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make it great for speeding recover of wounds, and for itching or pain associated with skin problems.

MSM:

MSM is an organic sulfur compound. While MSM is found in many foods, including meat, fish, certain fruit, vegetables, and grains, it is destroyed when foods are processed. Sulfur is needed to form connective tissue. MSM also seems to act as an analgesic by lessening nerve impulses that transmit pain. We do know that sulfur is very important to body tissues and that it damps down pain impulses," Ronald M. Lawrence, MD, PhD, executive director of the Council on Natural Nutrition in Los Angeles, tells WebMD.

Hyssop:

Since Hyssop oil improves and promotes circulation, it helps cure diseases associated with poor circulation, such as rheumatism, arthritis, gout, and swelling.
